blog Producing a radio program on FUZZ

How could an online radio program be produced on fuzz.com, e.g. by the Almost Fabulous group? One simple solution that comes to my mind would be a playlist, which would include “presentation tracks”, i.e. the dj texts we record ourselves with a microphone. This implies that either the respective presenting member has a microphone and recording facility, or another member gets the text and records it.
Do you have any other ideas how this could be done?
We could rotate with producing the shows. I think they also should be deleted when it’s the next member’s turn (when the next show is up), because a) attention would concentrate on the current show, which would increase the show’s impact, and b) it can be expected that artists on fuzz from time to time delete their songs, so that the playlist cannot stream them anymore and any presentation text would get a nonsense meaning.
What’s your opinion?

I love the idea besides that I am so not sure about having to moderate a show. The audience wouldn't be able to enjoy the music cause all Native speakers were to busy fighting with the laugh attacks forced by my very German accent ;-)
Some favorite songs of my contain way too many "th"s .....

Having multi language DJ's would be cool, it would just mean also using a blog to translate what the DJ is saying bit by bit. Here's how it would work.

DJ or Host: - picks the artists and songs they want to use in the show they're working on.

Once those are chosen, the artists are contacted for permission to use their tracks, once the artists confirm usage, the playlist is created.

Then the DJ/Host writes their script for the program.

Regardless of what language they wish to speak, the english translation is written and labelled the same as the Intro/Breaks#-#/Closing.

Then it can be posted as a blog to accompany the show.

The DJ/Host then records their script, in short bits labelling them Intro break1, break2, break3, etc. and Closing.

Or something along these lines to denote their order, to mirror the playlist order.

So after the DJ/Host uploads their vox tracks, they can be placed as Intro, Song 1, song 2, song 3, break 1, song 4, song 5, break 2, song 6, song 7, song8, Closing.

Not really that hard to manage as long as the playlist and scripts are followed.
Then the listener can detatch the player and find the Blog transcript and read along at the Intro breaks and closing, if they choose to.

Interviews with the artists can be added this way too, as long as they supply the vocal track to answer the questions, or record short bits describing the song etc.

Yeah, if you can download the tunes you can mix them yourself with the host's parts, which would be more "sexy" than the playlist format, which always leaves 2 seconds or so between tracks and hence kills the dynamics such a show should have. But downloading for mixing a radio program would be a problem if artists one day should decide they don't want the songs to be streamed anymore.
It would be cool if musicians and not only non-musicians would host online radio programs too, but if they mainly play their own tracks that would tend to be boring (even if their tracks are good) and people would stop listening.
Apart of that it doesn't all have to deal with music. Music is the main interest on fuzz.com though.

We shouldn't make things too complicated and work with playlists. Now Tibii go ahead - waiting for the first radio show ;-)

I see it the same way, in order to get things started the playlist format is sufficient, considering also that it is not so easy for us non musicians to record and mix etc.as it is for musicians. I recently got me a microphone and recording software so I actually can start the thing. Unless someone will be faster which I would appreciate ;-) But you all (to whom it may concern) could start preparing your shows already, be it in the Almost Fabulous context or not. Any kind of difficulties of whatever nature could be discussed and settled here.

Once I have figured out if my Dream Pop - Folk Rock playlist is more Dream Pop or more Folk Rock or something completely I will prepare a show as well. Maybe it is a bit easier to decide if the songs in my Brit Rock & Alternative playlist are more Brit Rock or Alternative. Hm - are American bands really allowed to choose the Brit Rock Genre????? At least these songs belong to Indie bands - but this is the most (ab)- used genre tag ever.

Or we start with a Madonna Special as long it is not 100% sure that this artist page was created by insane Beaman.

Tee hee (in German: kicher kicher).

Do you know that I saw Heavy Stereo live in the mid nineties? They were opening act for Oasis, who were also good, but not as good as Heavy Stereo.
